A structure fire is a fire involving the structural components of various residential buildings ranging from single-family detached homes and townhouses to apartments and tower blocks, or various commercial buildings ranging from offices to shopping malls. This is in contrast to “room and contents” fires, chimney fires, vehicle fires, wildfires or other outdoor fires.

A “Wildland Interface” is where urban firefighting meets wildland firefighting. Structures that are in and at the edges of wildlands are threatened and require skills and equipment of both disciplines.

September 1, 2018, marked the 19th anniversary of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District providing Paramedic Level – Emergency Medical Care.

The primary duties of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District firefighters are fire suppression and the treatment and transportation of the sick and injured to the hospital. However, the firefighters have other training that expands the District’s response capabilities. EPFD personnel have training and expertise in other areas as well.

The primary mission of the Ebbetts Pass Fire Districts Fire Inspection Division is to enforce Fire and Life Safety Codes in the District.

Campfires are allowed in organized campgrounds. Campfire Permits are required annually and are good for the year they are issued. Campfire Permits are required on all Federal Lands within the Ebbetts Pass area.
